Strathcona, established in 1924, provides a distinctive education in a Christian environment for students throughout Melbourne’s east and north. During the past 85 years, Strathcona has grown to become one of Melbourne’s leading girls’ schools. Facilities: The Canterbury Campus (Senior/Middle School and ELC) is well serviced by train, bus and tram and has excellent facilities including a modern Science and Middle School Centre, a gymnasium, heated indoor swimming pool and sports field. An innovative VCE Centre and Information Resources Centre were opened in August 2003. The Creative and Performing Arts Centre opened in August 2008. The centre has new music, art and drama facilities with a food technology laboratory and a multimedia centre with a soundproof recording studio. A large open internal performance and exhibition space is the centrepiece of the new building. Outstanding computer facilities and a home-to-school computer link eliminate the need for expensive laptops and ensure that all students are able to utilise interactive technology to communicate effectively. The ELC girls and boys are nurtured in a recently refurbished and expanded homely and well-resourced centre. In Year 9, students spend a year at Tay Creggan, a beautiful historic site by the Yarra River, which has been magnificently renovated. This unique campus, established in 1969, was the first to offer a non-residential off-campus experience for girls. Tay Creggan has exceptional facilities for Year 9 student programs that emphasise teamwork, challenge and project-based learning. The Year 9 campus is also well-serviced by train and tram. A state-of-the-art Junior School (Prep to Year 6) opened in May 2005 next to the Main Campus in Prospect Hill Road. The facility provides a unique learning environment featuring leading-edge classroom design, a variety of play areas, hi-tech computing areas, activities centre, library, and art and music facilities.
Curriculum: There is an extensive choice with the VCE program offering all prerequisites for tertiary courses and a wide selection of studies in Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, Business and Creative Arts. Languages studied at Strathcona are French, Italian and Mandarin Chinese. Integration of ICT skills is an essential part of the programs at all levels. Ground-breaking courses in VCE/VET Interactive Digital Media channel students’ creative and technical skills in innovative directions. Their achievements are showcased on Strathcona’s own TV station – S-TV.
Sport: Physical Education is part of the core curriculum from the ELC to Year 11 and is available as a VCE subject in Years 11 and 12. Many students are encouraged to be involved in inter-school sporting competitions run by Girls Sport Victoria.
Extracurricular activities: Strathcona’s diverse extra-curricular program encourages participation in a wide range of activities including an extensive range of drama, music and sporting activities, debating and public speaking. Compass (Years 5 to 8) and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (Years 9 to 12) provide students with a range of challenging, non-competitive, voluntary activities encouraging personal growth, enterprise and a broad range of life skills.
Student welfare programs: Pastoral care plays an important role at Strathcona with personal, social and spiritual development nurtured. This modern Orthodox Jewish college was founded in 1943. It provides a dual curriculum of secular and Jewish studies and is concerned with the total development of students to enable them to realise their full potential as individuals and as members of society.

Covenant College is a Protestant, multi-denominational, co-educational Christian day school, which commenced classes in 1991. The college operates classes from kindergarten to Year 10.
